Junior School – Ignatius Early Years

What is it?

Ignatius Early Years is the home of our Early Years Programme with an educational style based upon the philosophy of Reggio Emilia.

"the education based on relationships"

The Reggio Emilia approach to Early Learning is seen as world best practice. Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach our teachers aim, through play and exploration, to develop the child’s natural curiosity, imagination and creativity.

Ignatius Early Years is designed for 3 year olds, Pre Entry and 4 year olds (Pre School) children as an extension of the family home: warm, welcoming, caring and loving.

Staffing and Style

Conducted by the Jesuit Order, in the Catholic tradition, and staffed by experienced early childhood educators trained in the Reggio Emilia method, Ignatius Early Years provides quality early childhood education.

We educate for the formation over time of the whole person; spiritually, socially, culturally, academically, physically and intellectually to become spiritually alive and filled with a life long love of learning.

At Ignatius Early Years, we aim to create a warm caring home-style environment where the children will grow in confidence and self esteem.

As educators, we recognize that children are individuals, possessing a variety of experiences, knowledge and talents. Our aim is to facilitate each child’s unique learning pace and potential.

For our Families

We aim to create an atmosphere of trust, mutual respect and love.

We offer a flexible family programme with a range of session and timetabling choices.

Parental involvement in all aspects of Ignatius Early Years is encouraged.

What will my child gain?

Based on early childhood education, our Reggio Emilia focuses on:

  • Play-curiosity, connection and meaningful experience
  • Inquiry - project child centred approach
  • Imagination - life of the mind, participation, expanding horizons
  • Environment - exploration of the centre and its experiential surrounding gardens
  • Community - learning to be a part of a vibrant and caring society

In the Jesuit tradition, the Early Years programme aims to establish a pathway to forming young people of competence, conscience and compassion.
