Welcome from the Rector

"Ite Inflammate Omnia."

"Go and set the world alight." Legend has it that our patron, St. Ignatius Loyola, used these words when he sent his best friend as a missionary to a world that few had seen and fewer still could imagine. A world where nothing could be assumed to be as it was in the Old World. A world filled with confusion and fear, joy and love, and a world where seeking God's greater glory required a great deal of hard work, preparation and prayer. That world is long past, but the world of the 21st Century is a place that can be just as challenging, confusing and conflicting as that missionary territory was so many centuries ago.

But St. Ignatius knew that preparing the whole person was the key to dealing with an uncertain, ever-changing world. At Saint Ignatius' College we seek to build an educational community that prepares students to set our world alight today. A Jesuit education seeks to kindle that fire in our students, academically, physically and spiritually, so that they no matter how ambiguous and confronting the world becomes, our students are prepared to bring all their gifts to bear and rise above the challenges they face throughout their entire lives. We seek to help our students become women and men who make positive, generous contributions to a world in great need.

This website highlights some of the essential elements of the 450 year old Jesuit educational tradition that has helped so many people change and bring light to the world.

We at Saint Ignatius' College are also blessed with the resources and facilities to help our students grow and shape their talents and abilities. Every student who comes to us has a spark within them that will give light to our world. Our mission is to help that spark become a flame that lights the world.

I am confident that you will see firsthand the many ways in which we are helping young people achieve their potential. And it is my hope, that when you experience the fullness of what a Jesuit education has to offer, you'll want to join us in setting the world on fire.
